The biggest cost to a loan is the compensation to the loan officer. As a mortgage broker, I have much more flexibility in how I run my business, and what my compensation is, than banks and retail lenders. I usually charge a fraction of what a typical loan officer charges, and am able to pass the saving on to you in the form of lower rates.
